Life is a gift that nature reclaims on its own terms. Over this little village hung a massive rock that seemed ready to fall at any moment, while those fragile houses stood beneath it. Sitting there, I pondered how nature both grants life and can destroy it with a mere snap of its fingers - effortlessly. It never asks. When the time comes, it simply acts. Our self-assurance is a fragile shadow before the forces we ignore. We feel overly confident (an illusion of control over the inevitable).
This shot was born from quiet dread: the rock poised to collapse, the houses ephemeral, and the sky utterly indifferent.
