Malvina Reynolds' Little Boxes, & Pete Seeger's rendition notwithstanding, we the human animal--all--live lives within the limitations of boxes we construct and set, some from circumstance, others motivation, manipulation, and desire. We do this from our first steps, through adolescence, youth, to old age and to the ultimate insult, the last, darkened box. For the inquisitive, learning child, the box they fashion contains a world of exploration, wonder, and aspiration. Jem's (To Kill a Mockingbird) distilled that summer in Alabama regretfully not to long ago.
"it's Time"--Alexander, you've done a wonder exploration of the mind, accuities and perception of a child's never answered question, "When, daddy. . ." You are wonderfully incisive, creative, and memorable, an Artist of note and skill. Bravo.
